Either you want to check competitors’ websites or find details about a particular subject, search operators are useful for marketers to get precise information very fast. You do not have to loose your time searching within the results displayed by Google because you can obtain what you are looking for rapidly.

How? Read the whole article and you will be amazed.

You only have to familiarize yourself with the following formulas which are known as search operators. They will simplify your work if used correctly and will get you to the point of knowledge.

Search operators are integrated within Google Advanced Search and in this post, you will find examples of these formulas designed for marketing professionals and entrepreneurs to better resolve their SEO and SMO tasks.

All you need to do is to have your Google Search Box ready and type in the search operators + query word, as follows:

1. Find only the pages with specific queries on a particular website

To find all the pages of a website that got the same query in the text, you have to type the query before site: and then, immediately, write the website. Google will list only the site pages with the keywords you are interested in.

I want to find all the pages / posts from Facebook that have the query word digital ingredients in the content so I wrote in Google Search Box: [ digital ingredients site:facebook.com ]

! No space before and after the colon (:)

And then these results came out:

The next trick does the same thing as the one presented before: [ site:www.entrepreneur.com inbound marketing. You will find listed in Google all the pages from www.entrepreneur.com that contain the topic inbound marketing . No matter what formula you choose, both ensure satisfactory and valuable results.

If you want Google to avoid listing some websites, considering them as negative keywords, then apply this formula [ search engine optimization -site:moz.com ]. Google will exclude URLs that come from moz.com on the results page and list other sites with the subject search engine optimization.

By simply writing [ site:yoursite.com ] you can quickly check what pages of your website were indexed by Google and how people see them in Search Engine Results Page (SERP).

If you are a content writer and want to get to the pages that contain certain keywords in the title you have to use the formula proposed below which will ease your work. More exactly, you will write quality work once doing some rapid research on the Google, observe competition and come up with powerful findings.

If you apply this formula [ allintitle:e-marketing ] in Google search box, you will find all the web pages that contain e-marketing keyword in the title.

Instead of writing just one word, you can write a phrase or expression and Google will identify the pages that contain in the title the long tail keyword.

Also you can search for terms that are in different places: one in the copy text or URL and the other one in the title [ landing page intitle:e-marketing ].

So, the word that you want Google to find in the text or link is the first one, landing page and the second one, e-marketing that came out in the title.

In this way, you can propose authentic topics about E-marketing and Landing page if you know what people want to read and what topics do your colleagues approach to satisfy the audience.

3. Short or long tail keywords within the content of the page

If you replace the word ‘title‘ with ‘text‘ then you will have in Google results, pages that contain in the text the word/words you are looking for.

This search tip [ allintext:write a short/long tail keywords ] is needed when you want to reach some important words (company name, event name, persons, etc.) within the content of the page. Maybe you want to find out who writes about you and your products or maybe you just want to discover how online newspapers see your competitors.

If I want the terms ‘become successful’ in the text of the page and ‘online marketing’ in title or URL, I type in Google Search Box this formula [ online marketing intext:become successful ]. Thus, through this formula I receive really amazing results that could help me to perform my duties efficiently.

When we want to tell Google to exclude a word that we do not want to find on the pages, we have to use minus sign (-) in front of the word that we do not want in the text same as here: [ online marketing intext:become successful money ] . The word money will not be taken into consideration by Google showing only pages that do not have this word.

4. Discover results in Google that have keywords in anchor text

For SEO specialists, trying this formula [ professionals inanchor:digital marketer ] , you will see all the websites that got in the anchor text the word ‘digital marketer‘ for its link, and the word ‘professionals‘ will be found in the content of the page.

This method is essential when digital marketers and entrepreneurs want to build a strong link building strategy for their business. This formula helps them to reach websites with specific keywords in the anchor text to see the links they are targeting and the strategy approached.

If we want alternative words to appear in the hyperlink, we have to write ‘OR’ after the first word that we want to find in the anchor. And the formula will look like this: [ professionals inanchor:digital marketer OR online marketer ] . Websites that have digital marketer, online marketer or both in anchor text will show up in Google.

5. Use this amazing search operator to get related websites

If you want to write an article in which to include a top of the most influential sites that write content about online marketing use this [ related:searchenginejournal.com ] and Google will provide you similar web pages.

When writing this rule in the search box, Google displays all the websites that have the same content as the site mentioned, searchenginejournal.com in our case.

6. Formulas dedicated especially to find different document formats

To find in Google different formats of documents (pdf, doc, ppt, etc. ) focused on certain keywords, apply this tip to get fantastic websites: [ pay per click advertising filetype:ppt ] .

And to search for a keyword that is found in two different formats, write [ pay per click advertising filetype:ppt OR filetype:pdf ] to have ‘pay per click advertising‘ in ppt or pdf format.
